Sporty  SARAH

Since she was five years old, Sarah has always been playing a sport. She played soccer competitively in leagues, the APEX soccer club, high school, and took a competitive advanced soccer class at SDSU during her senior year. In high school, Sarah competed in long distance running events for four years in cross country and track. After high school, Sarah could not stay away from running, so she began training for half marathons. Three half marathons later, she decided to challenge herself further and complete the Griffith Park Marathon in March 2017. While studying abroad in Singapore during the Spring 2016, Sarah trained with the university women's soccer team and her dorm's track team to continue her athleticism while abroad.

SINGAPOREAN  SPONTANEITY

During the spring semester of her junior year, Sarah embarked on the adventure of her lifetime across the world to study abroad for five months in Singapore. Before the bumpy journey, she had to obtain approval of  literature, history, art, and upper division humanities courses in order to stay on track to graduate in four years. Despite numerous tries to find similar classes abroad, she persisted and found classes that were approved. Wanting to experience culture shock and step completely out of her comfort zone, she decided Singapore was an incredible place to study abroad and experience other cultures. At first, Sarah experienced a tough transition dealing with the high humidity, lack of a kitchen, and lack of friends nearby, however she learned to become more independent and easily made new friends. The wanderlust bug bit Sarah and she booked spontaneous trips around Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, and a solo trip in Bali. From these experiences, she is willing to be spontaneous and try new challenges that may arise. Sarah realized travel is truly the only thing you can buy that makes you richer.
